Perry Wheeler's football resume includes some memorable prep performances on the gridiron at Don Drumm Stadium.
It'll have to be updated for his collegiate career, because Marietta High's record-setting running back is planning to continue his education and play football at Marietta College - which also plays its home games at DDS - this upcoming season.

Under a broiling summer sun, the first bricks are being laid for the foundation to a Marietta High football program which appears to be on the right track to return to seasons of carving out more wins than losses.

Even though school's out, there's still been a lot of football activity at Marietta High on Davis Avenue.
This summer, the Tiger players have been working on their conditioning every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, and learning the Craig Farnsworth way of playing the game.
Helping make first-year Farnsworth's job at the MHS helm easier has been a staff that includes Rick Phillips, Adam Eichorn, Kyle Welch, Ryan Merrill, and Bob Springer.
"I wanted a staff in place to teach our system," said Farnsworth, who had been driving from his home in South Carolina to Marietta and back for a spell but is now settled in.
The coach and his family have moved into a house and been in the area for about a month now.
"It's a good mix of coaches, and I'm very pleased," Farnsworth continued.

In the search for a coach to guide their football team, not very many high schools are given the opportunity to have someone with a state championship on their resume take the reigns.
