Marietta Pounds South...

For those who may have doubted Marietta's ability to run the ball, junior tailback Perry Wheeler provided some hard evidence to the contrary Friday night at Don Drumm Stadium. Wheeler rushed for a career-high 241 yards and four touchdowns as the Tigers crushed the Patriots of Parkersburg South, 42-28, in a non-conference contest. Wheeler had TD runs of 15, 2, 2 and 8, accounting for all of Marietta's rushing touchdowns.

Kriechbaum has great opener...

Former Tiger Cory Kriechbaum had an outstanding performance in the opener for Marietta College last Saturday.  The Pioneer receiver threw a 47 yard touchdown pass in the first quarter and finished the game with 9 receptions for 127 yards and 1 touchdown in the Pioneers to 21-18 victory.


Tigers Fall to Cats...

CAMBRIDGE - Coming into their matchup with the Cambridge Bobcats the Marietta Tigers knew they needed to slow down tailback Tyler Hardesty if they were going to come out with the victory.

Instead of being contained Hardesty ran for 257 yards and four touchdowns on 41 carries as Cambridge defeated Marietta 41-27.

Marietta, Morgan Sharpen Skills For Upcoming Season...

It was only a 7-on-7 passing scrimmage, but the Marietta Tigers' offense looked like it was in mid-season form Friday night at Don Drumm Stadium.

 

Scrimmaging the Morgan Raiders the Tiger receivers ran crisp routes and quarterback Cody Westbrook hit them with dazzling passes.

First-year MHS Head Football Coach Has Staff in Place...

It didn't take long for Andy Schob to put his own stamp on the 2008

 

Marietta Tigers. Schob, the offensive coordinator under former MHS head football coach Brian Spicer, intends to keep some aspects of the spread offense with senior quarterback Cody Westbrook under center - the high-percentage completions - emphasizing short passes while mixing in effective running plays out of a wing-T set. Tiger Youth Camp Dates Set: Form below...

 The 2008 Tiger Youth Football camp date is set for July 21-23.  It will be held at Marietta High School on the Tigers' practice field.  It will run from 9:00 am til 12:00 pm. The Camp will be conducted by Marietta Staff and Players.  Emphasis will be placed on fundamentals of all positions and skills involved.  Individual Attention will be given in station work throughout the camp Games will be played by age group at the end of each day *Daily awards and prizes will be given.  Each Camper will receive a free Tiger Football T-Shirt.

Cody Westbrook All-Ohio Again...

 For the second year in a  row, Marietta QB, Cody Westbrook,  brings home All-Ohio honors at the OHSAA Track&Field State Championships.  Cody cleared 6' 8" to finish 6th in the high jump.

MHS Names New Coach...

Marietta native Andy Schob has accepted the position of head football coach at Marietta High School. Andy graduated from Marietta High School in 1986 and went on to Marietta College. He has coached Tiger Football at Marietta for 11 seasons, including 6 junior high and 5 at the high school. Andy and his wife Candi reside in Marietta with their 4 children, Jason (21), Tiffany (16), Heidi (13), and Evan (6).

Andy hopes to have his staff in place for the May 19th school board meeting.

He has named his strength and conditioning coaches and they will begin working with Tigers this coming Thursday, May 8th in the weightroom.  Heading up the strength team is former All-Ohio Linebacker Jeff Smith ('91).  Assisting Jeff will be three other former Tigers.  Marc Warden ('91), a firefighter and EMT with the Marietta Fire Department, brings experience as a personal trainer.  Chad Lincoln ('92) is a machine operator for Shelly & Sands Inc. and is no stranger to the weight room.  Geoff Schenkel ('90), former Tiger defensive back will be the fourth member of the team.

Ever since he was a small child Robbie Spencer ('06) had a dream to don the pads and play collegiate football at the NCAA Division I level.

DON DRUMM STADIUM

Marietta College took over Don Drumm Stadium from the City Schools in 2005.  It is becoming one of the nicest facilities in the southeast portion of the state.
